STATEMENT

I was born in Buenos Aires in 1993 and most of my works are paintings, drawings or collage.

I usually paint with acrylics or oils, either on wood or on canvas, and use brushes, spatulas or rags to achieve different results in my images. On the other hand, when I draw and collage I use coloured pencils or intervene photos and drawings.
I work with a contrasting palette of low and high tones, since I'm interested in generating a dramatic, theatrical lighting. The figures are often portrayed in focus or blurred. This effect usually intends to reflect the psychology and feelings of the characters in the image.

The series "Saturno" is inspired in photographs I've taken at night or in dark places, either in open or closed spaces, both of the city or of everyday settings. I seek to create environments that generate a certain climate.
Among those scenarios that suggest a certain existential mystery and sensations such as the nostalgia or melancholy closely linked to pleasure and contemplation. There's scenes where the protagonists, both the places portrayed or the characters, are immerse in these sensations. The journey of shadows and lights, as well as of being human, and the spaces we inhabit, suggest an introverted existential and psychic search that runs through the being in its daily conflicts of existence. They're meant to deconstruct the pre-concept of light and darkness and their moral meanings, giving and claiming a certain pleasure to the contemplation of these dualities.
To be able to contemplate beauty carefully silence is necessary and in the gloom of an empty environment the enigma of shadows invites the spectator
to experience the unsettling pleasure of mystery and nostalgia. Always nocturnal, staring at nothing, at everything, or at that melancholic pleasure of existence. The subjective, dark and lonely paradise, as we might enjoy it the most and at the same time find restless, is the engine of what I intend to express.
In the end, this work is a catharsis of the sensations I've experienced, as well as the spaces that I frequently visit or inhabit.
